Turn your business Idea to a business venture

Author: Peter Okolie

One major challenge for individuals with ideas is how to develop the idea and make it more presentable and turn it into a Business venture. Many businesses are nipped in the bud simple because individuals do not have enough information to develop their business ideas and turn it into a viable venture. In the next few paragraphs, I will show you 6 proven techniques to turn you idea into a venture.

Begin a research: There is a strong possibility that the business you are interested in doing has already been done by somebody else. They might have had a different target audience or unique selling proposition but the truth is that the basic principle is similar. Even if you are interested in selling refrigerators to the Eskimos, you would be surprised that somebody is already in that business or might have tried it before you. It becomes very important for you to make proper research on the business idea you have in mind. Use the interest, get into online forum, send out questionnaires, and talks to others in the business. The information you are able to gather would help in the next step so read on.

Pick a Model: If you carried out you research properly, you would have seen individuals from whom you have seen mistakes to avoid, examples to follow and as such you have a pattern you can fashion your business in line with. It becomes very necessary for you to pick a business model and be willing to make modifications and adjustment. It is important that you note that everything good comes out of something, you must look at other individuals in the business interest that you are looking into study them closely and make a business model out of their successes and failures. If you have done this then you are ready to go to the next step.

Talk to yourself: This may sound like a joke, but, this is the next step to develop your idea. So you have a beautiful idea to open up an eatery down the road, or you are interested in have an NGO that takes care of senior citizen. It is a beautiful idea, but the next step is for you to talk to yourself. If you cannot convince yourself about the venture then it might just be a waste of time. Go in front of a mirror and tell yourself everything you know about the business you have in mind. This would help you put things you left out into perspective.

Talk to your Internal support Group: Your internal support group comprise those closest to you. Individuals that would be affected directly by your decision. This could be your spouse, parents, God and so on. It is important that you help them understand what you are about to do. Business is a lot of risk and it pays to have the people closest to you giving you their support. Once you are able to convince your internal support group, it is important to move to the more serious stuffs.

Prepare a Business Plan: This are of the business development is always a big struggle for many entrepreneur but it is the difference between those that succeed and those that fail. A business plan, however, should not be too difficult if you have been able to talk to yourself and also talk to your internal support group. A typical business plan contains information of the business, how it runs and every other information that should be a guiding principle for the business. This is very useful because it helps to keep you in perspective at all times. You would get guidelines to writing a business plan by visiting www.business-in-a-box.com.

Get started: It is good to have an idea but you are not rewarded for having an idea, you are rewarded for working at your idea. You must go for it if you are to make anything good out of your business idea. At this stage of the plan, you take the bull by the horn, it is too late to test the depth of the water with one leg, you must go nose deep, it is either you swim or sink. You have to burn all the bridges and tell yourself, “There is no going back”. The truth is that it is not going to be a smooth sailing but if you keep at it you will make something great out of your idea.

Have you ever had a totally trouble-free day?

by Melissa Thompson

When we were kids, it seemed like life was such a glorious time. We were carefree, had no responsibilities, and could play and learn all day.

As adults, all those things seemed to have slipped by us. We now find all the bills, responsibilities for ourselves and others, sometimes become unbearable.

There are not many trouble-free days. Life has its own way of invading our turf. It is how you deal with them that really matters.

Many of you are waiting for my Product Shoppe to be online. Life has slipped in. My hosts have decided to change servers - without any warning to us - and have been having problems with their new script. Alas! I cannot get onto my web site to work on it! So, when they get it fixed, I will get my site up.

Have I given up? No! I actually have used this opportunity to continue to build my database, and expand my horizons.

Not only will I have a retail site up, but I will be putting up a wholesale site. I have been in touch with several businessmen from my area, who are looking for a close place to buy from. And they have chosen me!

Life may throw twists and turns your way, but it doesn't have to be sour grapes. Always look for the brighter side of life. You have a choice - either be down and give up or look ahead to a brighter future.

I also am a smoker. Today, I have chosen to quit. For my health - and for no other reason. I am going to try the patch. I know I have the willpower to quit, but help is greatly appreciated! I will keep you informed of my progress.

I still have all my other sites to work on. Something I love to do!

Oh yes, I have super gift for you today.

Dealing with the hands of time....

Have you ever been in the position to have something happen to postpone your dreams? No? Well, you must be unique!

Most people I know have had their dreams delayed by something in life. Those dreams are what we all strive to be or do in life. No matter the delays, stick to your dream.

I have worked many years learning - from the ground up- customer relations, business, and marketing. There have been numerous delays. Life has a way of dealing you those cards.

I think that it is how you handle the trials life throws your way. In my years (and I am not telling how many!), life has dealt me many trials. I always feel that these are paths that we must choose from.

Many times, we take the wrong paths. This is what causes us our delays. Many people tend to give up on a dream because they have trouble finding their way back. My friends, DON'T GIVE UP!

How many times in my life did I hear "You can't do that" or 'How silly to even think of trying to make money using one of THOSE programs!" Whew! Did I ever learn who I should trust with my ultimate goals in life. Of course, it was under the guise of 'caring'. That doesn't help whenever it is YOU who needs the money!

Many people do not understand the drive it takes to run a business. If you have problems sticking to goals to get to your dream, maybe, you should rethink it. If you cannot reach the goals, can you honestly tell me that you have the drive to run it if you ever reached them? I tend to think not.

Running a business is not for everyone. Some people just do not have the business mind, but are more of the type of person who needs to follow - rather than lead. Those types of people are workers. These are the ones we delegate everyday tasks to. They can perform them, after being told what to do.

Running a business needs a creative mind. Why? You have to be able to handle all the departments, and be creative enough to market your product. Each piece of your business has a place, and when interwoven, becomes the entire business. A puzzle - so to speak - that needs all the pieces to fit - to make it whole.

That is your job. To make all the pieces fit. No one said it would be perfect, or that there would not be times when it doesn't fit right. There will be those. That is where using the creativity comes in to play. Be creative enough to come up with a different strategy to make them fit.

Take what you learn from each mistake, each wrong turn, and use it as an experience to learn from. Don't ever think that following orders make you a leader. It doesn't. It does not make you stand out from the crowd. I do not mean to disobey the rules of the business, I mean to use your creativity to come up with solutions to the businesses problems. That is what it takes to be a leader, dealing with the problems that life throws your way.

Thanks --Melissa
